Hey all, I haven't posted in a while but recently I just did some more hardwood (kitchen remodel). This is my own house and I live alone so no one to appease but myself
Anyway- I put down 2.25" x 3/4" solid white oak, select grade R&Q to match what's in the rest of my house. My house has diagonal wood planks as subflooring and has a basement.
I used Bostitch 2" cleats with the Bostitch MIII nailer on all parts, EXCEPT the very edge of one wall (which also has an exterior door). So about 4 rows of planks I glued in place. Not knowing any better
I used Liquid Nails, which I've used before for other projects. Then I happened to do a search here and saw that this type of construction adhesive is not good because of no flex. To further add salt to the wound, I read the tube and it said not recommended for flooring.
If there's any silver lining, only a small portion is done this way (12 ft x 4 rows) with one part in a corner with 2 ft of kitchen cabinets on top. Also- the part near the door was cleated in place since I was able to put the tool out the door.
Soooo, at this point- what should I do? I'm thinking since it's just me and I'm not selling in the foreseeable future- just to leave it. Correct me if I'm wrong but hopefully with it being next to the wall it doesn't have as much flex as a main walking path. If it starts buckling or getting gaps, it's relatively easy to pull the shoe molding then affected planks and glue it with Sika or Bostik.
Thoughts? (and from now on I'll read here FIRST before proceeding)
