Hi, I've sanded a solid oak floor, the customer wanted it stained walnut colour. The stain hasn't come out very uniform. The edge that I sanded with my edge sander is lighter than the main area done with my Hummel. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

did you finish the job or is sonly stained? if it is stained, you can try roughing up the egde with a 5 grit paper then reappluyong the stain..let it set and tack, then wipe the excess.

allow to dry then begin coating..should blend.

However, I haven't seen the results you have so I offer this conservatively to you.

The effect you see is the result of sanding sequences and preparation between the 2 machines.

After you have successfully blended the two sequences, you can tone the first and 2nd coats..assuming you are doing 3. by the time you are done, no one will be the wiser.
