Hello, I am a trim carpenter, and perfectionist by trade :) I am doing this floor in my in-law's house.

I have been looking around, and on youtube for some info, but I can't really find a definite answer on the sanding/buffing between coats.

I have the floor in, it went in pretty good, it is from a local mill, only a few spots were the boards are different thicknesses.

Is this anywhere near right?
Rough cut with 60?
Cut with 80
Final screen with buffer on 150?

Stain, Duraseal
Poly 3 coats of Glitsa satin

Do I need to sand between coats of poly?
If so, what grit?

Thank you!

What kind of equipment are you going to use ? That will dictate what kind of grit abrasives you can use.

I sanded with 36 grit today, worked great, everything went well, I will be using 60 then 80 tomorrow.

After you're done sanding, take a look at the blend line between the Ez8 and your edger. Either use an orbital sander with 80 or 100 grit to blend it or use a piece of 100 grit paper and blend it by hand. Then buff the floor with 120 grit screen . 150 is very fine and probably wont easily take out your 80 lines.

With a good buffer and good technique , you can also blend the line between the EZ 8 and edger but if you over do it , you will create a big halo around the room.it's a "feel" thing .
