Gentlemen,

I am about to lay 3/4" solid hardwood flooring in my living room and dinining room. Where would you start and how would you transition into the other room while remaining square?. I would like to run the flooring planks in the orientaion of front of the house to rear. Thank you

start along the long wall of LR...wall to left..make sure strait with chalk line..
continue across.

when going into doorway of DR, snapline strait down interior wall off you floor..top nail this course strait down.
then install next course...continue out.

of course assuming this is structurally correct install..go perpendicular to joist direction..
start on an outside wall always......except for doing hallways...

Thank you for the response. Yes, that orientation will be perpendicular to the floor joists.
