Anyone know the best way to get off rubber padding from under an area rug that is now one with the hardwood?

Best way I have found is with a sharpened 4 inch putty knife and elbow grease. Sorry I wasn't of much help.

Ya trying not to ruin it to much as it is a prefinished exotic herringbone glued down in a $2,000,000 condo. Didn't know if I could screen it off then recoat. Really don't want to sand it.

Jeff, are you talking about the whole entire area or bits and pieces?

I had a similar problem with that woven rubber latex rug pad stuck to my floor and I used Goo Gone. But I have a hard waxed floor so I just hit it with mineral spirits afterwards and then waxed it again. Not sure if Goo Gone would effect the finish there, try a scrap first.
