Does anyone know where I can purchase rubber t moldings to use when installing hardwood up against tile flooring? I always leave an expansion gap up against fireplaces and tile flooring and need something to fill in the gap....I sometimes use silicone caulking but alot of times it does not match the grout or the tile. Ive seen rubber t molding in some commercial locations that I thought would be nice to insert and have a nice transtion peice.

I don't know. But I will tell you what works well for me is to use a color matched "sanded" grout caulk there. All the grout colors are available in this. I get mine at various tile distributors. It is a pain in butt though compared to placing a trim over it.

A foam backer rod is placed in the expansion gap and the top filled with color matching sanded caulk, to match the tiles grout.

Why Sanded grout? Does it not crack as easily? Thanks

Because ceramic or stone installations, use sanded grout. The sanded color matching caulk, has the same texture as the sand & mortar grout.

I installed Marble tile with unsanded grout with no problems. The box says that it can be used with stone up to 1/8 spacing. (my marble tile was butted). I did some googling and read that sanded grout is to be used with spacing greater then 1/8. Am I confused?

It is a flexable caulk that comes in grout colors. Has the flexability of silicone for expansion, but looks like grout.

The rubber t-molds can be found at the flooring supply houses.
