I am removing the carpets in a couple of bedrooms and will be laying a 3/4" maple prefinished strip hardwood strip flooring. The rooms are on the 2nd floor & I live in Chicagoland. Looking for help on what to place between the subfloor and the new strip floor. Which is more preferable? Rosin paper or Felt paper? also - in addition would I need a vapor barrier?

thanks much

Arati

NOFMA and the NWFA recommend 15 lb. asphalt saturated felt paper. But being on the second floor, you could probably get away with either.

Aquabar is the best choice.
