I am going to remodel my vintage old floor with hardwood for my kitchen but which type of hardwood will be fine please any one give me suggestion?

I like 5/16th inch thick flooring, square edge glued or top-nailed, scribe fit to cabinets and walls. It can be sanded as many times as a ¾ inch floor, if you want to change color. Re-coated without sanding is the way to go with modern finished when it gets a little worn and becomes a nice old floor. This flooring will take more labor than a pre-finished floor, though. It will not affect the height of adjacent steps.

Since kitchen will surely experience water leaks or dropped pasta etc, containing moisture is usually an issue. I would recommend engineered hardwood floor.

Site finished over pre-finished.
