hardwood floor boards about 35 years old, nailed down 3/4inch thick. What is the best practice to remove hardwood when there will be no transition between the remaining hardwood floor and the granite floor and both materials are flush?

Maybe it's me...Don't understand the question. If possible...a picture would help.

Probably as simple as that......Take a circular saw and cut a straight line. Multi-function tool, or chisel the ends.
