Hello, this week-end we plan to repair wood flooring in my dinning area, that used to be a bathroom and was covered in carpet. The damaged floor was cut out and a piece of ply board was placed there. There is some wood flooring on three sides of the plywood, but the plywood is not exactly in the center of that area. The home is over 50 years old and has wood floor through out.
I promise I am not writing a book, just a bit of background.
The area to be replaced is about 11x8. I have old wood flooring from a home that was torn down for replacement wood. finally my question is I would like to do that area in a diagonal, how does one do that so it looks like it all connects well? And what do I need to do to prepare it before we start.? Nothing is in that area but two walls, one open area to the kitchen and one open area to living .no cabinets, my dining table will be there once it is done. I thank any imput in advance. Nancy

Putting up some pictures would be a start. It's better to have a visual if possible. :D

make an equal measure by finding true center of room..
measure and mark out your pattern..kin this case most likely a rectangle...

do this by making an equal measure around all 4 sides of the room.
chalk line this out and cut the floor on these lines.

remove the middle plywood and/or flooring

from the direction u wish the floor to go, measure from corner to corner of the cutout portion.
take this measure and transfer it to the length portion of the cutout( known as field)

strike a line and start on this line..this will be a 45.

fill in accordingly.

or you can hire a pro

was this helpful?.....

Thank you. I would send a picture like now, but of course my camera needs charging. All information has been very helpful.
