Any tricks for removing PL Premium off the finished surface of wood? There isn't much there except dusty finger prints. It will drive my wife nuts!

Also, I'm splitting a lot of tongues when nailing the 3/4" Brazilian Cherry with cleats. I'm using a Bostitch pneumatic nailer (MIII). Are there any tricks to reduce splitting? Or is it even a concern? Please note that the tongues aren't breaking off, and I can fairly easily engage the next board even with the split. The splits seem to be more prevalent on the darker wood.

Thank you

Best to clean right away with paint thinner. Once dry....I would still try paint thinner or mineral spirits on the PL, ( you may want to try letting it soak on there to soften). If that doesnt work...try Bostik's urethane cleaner. I'ts a good idea to get it up asap, or you run the risk of etching the finish. I've also heard of people using the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers.

To avoid splitting tongues, play with the PSI. Also make sure the cleats are hitting at the exact "crotch" location of the tongue.

I just used a can of Goof Off onto paper towels and it removed PL polyeurothane off solid hickory.
