When replacing hardwood floors, is it better to remove old hardwood or to install new hardwood on top of old?

Thank you!

Is the old hardwood floor worth resanding? If you want to put down a new floor if it was me I would remove the old floor(but then if the old floor is in decent shape resand it)

No, the old floor is not worth saving.

That depends on what type flooring it is. If its solid 3/4 inch you can use it as sub floor just keep in mind that you will need to remove and reinstall the baseboards because of the height change.

The only issue is height. You also have to go in the opposite direction.

Thank you!

There is only about 1/4 of an inch of existing floor left.

"The opposite direction" means perpendicular?
