Just curious as to what everyone does to prevent damage from a refrigerator when doing a kitchen. What steps do you take and what is the best way to move and protect the new floor. I'm putting in 3/4 solid 2 1/4 oak strip.

Use two pieces of acrylic "glass" or hardboard. Roll the fridge over one then place the one you rolled off of in front and so on 'till you get to where you want to go.

Cardboard is not sufficient.

Hire movers.

I have done the same with 1/8" masonite panels. Now, I prefer to use my air sled.

Can you explain how an air sled works? I have never heard the term before. Seeing as this is a one time shot, I'll just get a piece of masonite. I kind of thought masonite would work but wasn't sure of the thickness needed.

They work like a small hover craft, the appliance floats on a cushion of air. I got one too.

Masonite works good and the big box stores will rip a sheet down into smaller strips if you ask them to. I was using 1/8" thick.
