Hello folks. First and foremost I appreciate this place is around. The site and its contributors have provided loads of great information. Now down to business...
In my house there are various rooms that have 1/4 inch hardwood flooring. I actually like the design and craftsmanship of the installer. It is nice and I want to keep it. However, it is dull looking. How can I refinish and restore this floor? I am thinking sanding 1/4 inch wood may be out of the question. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Is it solid wood? Maybe you can screen and recoat if the finish is still decent. If it's engineered you may not be able to refinish. I've sanded some thin engineered, but you need to know when to stop, it can be tricky. If it's prefinished you may have to re stain with a similar color as you may not be able to sand down far enough to eliminate the beveled edges. Need to know what you're working with. 1/4" is thin.

It is definitely hardwood. I actually had ripped it off a couple of other rooms so I got to see it up close and personal. I agree that I will need to refinish with a similar color for the reasons you stated. I am pretty handy but lack flooring expertise. The screening - is this done by hand? Are there particular products you would recommend? Thanks for the reply.
