This is all new to me, but I have nail-down floor finishing questions and concerns. 1200sq feet total. most existing already office was installed. red oak nail down to match. Total sanding and stained to match and 3 water-base top coats of traffic.
What causes the swirls and ridges? Poor sanding equipment? Some spots are pealing and one is cloudy in an area where the water base caused the wood to rise. Can touch-up be done and blend back into the finished area and be just a good as a total look? This is a very expensive job done here in Texas and I do not wish to settle! I did not want to even know the stuff I have had to learn about wood, why I hired a flooring specialty store to do the job, Never saw them untill I had major problems and they wanted to collect! They are willing to come back out but at my inconvience, this was a 4day job, they started on the 26 of last month! Thanks

Sounds like a multitude of problems caused by a wannabe refinisher. You mentioned a specialty flooring store. What exactly do they specialize in? Hire a NWFA inspector and then get your money back and hire a wood floor refinishing specialist.

They will start over but do I trust that what they do will be better or do I live with the swirls and ripple efect. The wood feels smoth to the touch so can they resand and get it better or is it truly in the wood itself? It is alot to go through again but it was also EXPENSIVE.
