My customer wants me to refinish his pre-finished, hand scraped, AOx floor. I've heard so many different nightmare stories about this kind of job. Questions I have are:

1. If I sand to bare wood what's the best method or technique? I heard red heat paper can cut through AOx well.

2. Are chemical stripping agents out of the question? I'm concerned about adhesion issues after chemical stripping.

3. If floor isn't too far gone is the BONA method the best way?

I'd really appreciate any guidance and or input on the best approach to doing it correctly.

Thank you very much for any help you can give.

Billy

Is it a solid wood??

Basically whenever we have to sand handscraped floor we always say that we will make it flat and then just runs 2 cuts as often. Do the same, that's the best way out...

So. How much more work is it to refinished prefinished hardwood than normal existing.
I am basically getting a killer deal on mixed color same brand oak prefinished shaw.
I want to install it then get it refinished to make a uniform (or at least more uniform ) color. I also hate the microbevel gaps in most prefinished flooring.
