I am installing wood flooring in my bathroom. I have had wood flooring in my kitchen for 15 years and used Triple -S gym floor sealant on it. It has maintained its shine and there is no damage. My question is: I am installing flooring that has an aluminum oxide finish on it in my bathroom and I would like to put the same finish as my kitchen has for it durability and maintanance free qualities. Do I need to sand the aluminum oxide or can I just apply the bonding agent over the aluminum oxide?

Triple S hardwood bonding agent. The same as the floor sealant and top coat ( Triple-S and Street Shoe) Street Shoe has a catalyst additive. The boning agent goes on over the current sealant, drys, then 2 coats of Triple-S sealant, then the last coat of Street Shoe sealant.

OK, I am aware of Basic's Street Shoe and their non abrasive recoat procedure called Tykote. I just never heard of Triple S finishes before. Also, that product may have been discontinued or reformulated due to VOC regulations passed throughout the years. I couldn't say but many other brands of floor finishes have been reformulated. I was unclear about something. Are you wanting to use Street Shoe as the final coat? I would recommend using just one line of products as they typically are designed to work together. So either the Triple S brand or Basic's Street Shoe and tykote system. I cannot comment on the quality of Triple S. I have been a hardwood professional for 30 years and am a member of multiple flooring forums. That product has never been mentioned before. Are you from the USA? What part? It may have very limited regional marketing.

These are all from the same manufacturer. They are all made to work together. My only concern is, is do I need to do any prep work prior to putting the bonding on the aluminum oxide finish? The wood is clean, new has never been exposed to moisture, heat, abrasives.....

Not to my knowledge. Aren't there any directions for use? Should be. Typically, just vacuum and tack clean. Then apply the bonding agent. Basic's Tykote uses two specific cleaners, IFT and Squeaky Clean, to prep the floors to be coated. You may want to try those. I just don't know anything about the Triple S brand.
