Have completed several rooms, but now have old vinyl linoleum gliued to the wood. What is the best way to take it up? We have found the backing and glue tough to get up.

The backing and glue are horrible to remove. We've scraped,, used boiling water over towels (what a mess!) Is there an easier, less messy way?

Try paint stripper, the toxic kind with methylene choride.

Sand it off. Just another set on the sanding process. Once you have it off, clean your sander, and continue like normal.

Seen some pics of jobs where I would have just demo'd the floor but these guys restored it. Check the pics out on this page. Go to the previous pages of Locky's picks to see the finished floors. The guy is a master finisher I'd say.

Our Company manufactures a diamond abrasive tool specifically for removal of glue, mastics, aluminum oxide and other difficult to remove coatings on hardwood or concrete. It fits on any standard flooring machine or buffer and is the fastest most effective tools for removal. It is a new technology just introduced to the market last year. Let me know if you would like more information on it and I can send you over something.

Sand it off with a 16 grit paper. It will be a pain, but so will every other option.
