I just pickup 1000 sq ft of 7/16 x 1 1/4 bruce oak T & G flooring. It came out of a remodel in my neighbor hood. These home are 80 yrs old. A lot of the T & g is broken. I want to install in a 30 yr old addition. The subfloor is 5/8 t&g plywood over 12 in centered floor joists. The installation would be down a hall way 3ft x 18ft leading into a bed room 14 x15. Since some of the T&G is damaged would glue be an option instead of nailing. Don't really want to top nail, unless there is no other option. If top nail is my only option, how far apart would I nail?
Thanks for any response

Its generally way more work than its worth. Hopefully all the nails are already pulled. Especially 1 1/4". Top nails need to be 7 inch rows. Might get by with one nail per board, a 2" requires 2 nails per board.

I live in a historic district and city codes require duplication of orginal if possable. 1 1/4 is no longer available new so reclaiming of old flooring is an option. All four of the old bedrooms have wood, so the new with carpet looks out of place. The hallway contecting the rooms is 90% 1 1/4 so any thing else looks out of place. And after two day of pulling nails I.m cutting out bad sections and cutting new T&G in the ends. JUst wanted some input on glue and/or nail.

Width is 1.25"? Or did I read that wrong??

Boards with Broken tongues make noise after installation.

Adhesive is an option.

Read it correct 1.25. Thats the same response i've gotten here locally. Even took a piece to a local flooring installer who said I was measuring wrong. He was suprised, had never seen a 1.25 board. Am planning on nailing where I have a good section of Tongue and adding some type of adhesive where the bottom of the groove has been broken. This old house pops and creeks now so a little more shouldn't hurt. But the floors will look more like they should. I only need about 250 sq feet so I believe I can salvage that meany good pieces to lay out of the 1000. Two days of pulling nails, now I can start sorting. Good thing I'm retired
