Just bought a house that has engineered wood flooring. It is a 3/4 x 5 random plank. On one plank the oak veneer ply is loose. The core of the flooring looks like high density fiberboard. I was told the floor was installed in 2007 not sure of the brand. The oak ply and the core look fine I can not tell it was even glued. My question is can I just glue it back together and what glue should I use?

Thanks,
Jas456

You should be able to glue it back down with super glue wood formula, just be sure to not get any were you don't want it.

You should be ok with gluing it. I would use PL400.

PL-200 & 400 are the equivalent of Liquid Nails heavy duty. I have used them in the past, but a few years ago I notice on the tube it says: NOT FOR WOOD FLOORING.
I asked why and they said it sets to hard. No flexibility.

I started using PL Premium moisture cure urethane, or Liquid Nails moisture cure urethane.

It is more expensive. If you use a lot, it can add up.

Thank you for the replys. If I use the "PL Premium poly-urethane" do I need to add water for it to cure? Do I leave it in a bead or spread it out? Will the mositure effect the wood veneer? The veneer ply I need to glue is about 1/8 x 5 x 18".
Thanks again for the help,
jas456

Use the "Premium" in a zig zag bead pattern, in the middle of the plank. I would also run a bead around the edges about 1/2" from the seams,( in this situation). There's no water in the product, and cures without "adding water".

No.

The humidity will cure it out. The more moisture the faster it cures. You don't want moisture near wood.

I was just commenting on the difference in construction adhesives.

Me personally I would not use moisture cure urethane for what your doing.

I would get some Titebond II, and go to Tractor Supply and get a cattle syringe. Fill it about ½ way and use it to squirt under the delamination. Then push good to squeeze out any excess. Wipe up any ooze and weight with something very heavy.

After reading the tubes on 200 & 400 I see nothing that says "not for wood flooring". Pulled up both PDF's.....still nothing :? I do remember seeing that on Liquid Nails.

PL 200 & 400 do state on PDF's & product..."Providing a strong flexible bond"
