We have a brazilian cherry floor in part of the house and are trying to put more in another part of the house? How can I tell that I am getting real brazilian cherry and not something that just looks like it?

For example the Lumber liquidators lite brazilian cherry or Mohawks bingham bahia? Are these really brazilian cherry or something else? Does anyone know?

That LL Lite product is actually Tauari or also called Brazilian Oak. Not sure about the other.

Theres no such thing as "Brazilian Cherry". It is actually a common name given to "Jatoba" to make its visual characteristics a reference point. Brazilian Oak = Tauari, Brazilian Walnut = Ipe, Brazilian Chestnut = Cumaru, etc.

The Janka Hardness scale, which can be found on this site, provides a cross reference of the country of origin name and the common name used in the US. The Janka hardness scale refers to Brazilian Cherry as Jatoba. Good luck.
