Hello.
Finally i finish my floor and stair cases project (about 1200sf and three stair cases). Thanks to this site where i found a lot of useful information about installation. Now i am in process of replacing newel posts, balusters and railings. Can some one recommend what brand of stain and finish to use for rails. My floor is quarter sawn red oak stained with Bona Amber seal and finished with Bona Traffic Satin.
Probably i could use amber seal and traffic but it does not sound right because amber seal is water based so it raises the wood grain and sanding rails/posts is not fun and takes more time then it should.

Greatly appreciate your response.

If you are looking to match the floors I would use what you used on the floors.

every coating has to be sanded between coats..so dont matter..waterbase, oil base whatever..

u ca n use natural stain with traffic top coats..the amber seal..

poly...all will have same result..but traffic satin is very ,matte..so if u want that look, then use traffic for final coat..
