Hello,

I decided at the last minute to add a medallion to a stair landing. I was wondering what kind of adhesive to use. The subfloor is 3/4" plywood.

I went to home depot and only found Roberts 1407. I haven't opened it, so I can take it back if it's crap. Is there somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area particularly in the East Bay that I can find Bostik tomorrow? I really don't need much. It's just a 28" medallion.

Thanks,
'Chung

If you want to use Bostick's, then you can get it at the Tom Duffy Company in Concord. They're in the phone book. But a good construction adhesive would probably work too.

Cool. . .

If any good construction adhesive will work, I'll just go back to Home Despot tomorrow and buy a tube of something. ..

Anything in particular I should look for brandwise? I know my liquid nails subfloor adhesive has been great on my subfloors. I sure used a ton of it 'cause I also glued my plywood on while framing.

Just wanted to make sure I won't be back repairing stuff later.

Just make sure it is urethane. Liquid nail or PL400 make urethane adhesives. I like the PL400 – polyurethane blend.

Bull puckey! PL poly has no ability to elongate. It cures rock hard. You are better off using PL 400 or something similar. If you are itching to use something with the word "urethane" in it, use PL poly sealant.

In order to achieve what the competition cannot grasp, we must complete what they will not attempt. Nobody ever said it would be easy, but it's darn sure worth it.

William,
There exists PL polyurethane construction adhesive and there exists PL polyurethane sealant. No contradiction. Lazy typist. My bad.

factory nosing. . . with feature strip. . . I ask 'cause I don't know. I've never glued anything to the floor before 'til now.

I shouldn't have even been building the stairs 'cept the sanding/finishing contractor quoted more than I could afford to build/sand/finish them for me :o

I figured I could sand the stairs "Karate Kid" style, but not the entire floor.
