My wife and I are looking at floating some 5 inch Kahrs T&G planks in the entry way, hall and main living area. The entry and the hall form a 90 degree L shape and the entry continues on into the living area with the hall on the right. The main area is visible from the entry. We are having a heated discussion regarding the oriention of the planks which do have a bevel edge. Is it "okay" to run this plank ACROSS either the hall or entry to keep the whole house running one direction or should we change the direction in the hall and run them the length of the hall? The entry is wider than the hall. Also we have a few other questions that we would like to have answered by a Pro installer before we spend 6,000 on wood. Do any of you Pros go to sites and consult with a DIY? What is a reasonable figure? Thanks for any input. Dan&Kristin

We tried to put in a drawing but it was corrupted.

Get the specifications your requesting, directly from Kahrs, faxed to you so you have written documentation.

Yes, I do consultations all the time.

E-mail me if you wish to discuss fees.

If your Kahrs flooring is random lengths then you should be able to change directions with the right planning. I prefer the flooring to run the length of a long hallway. Without seeing a layout of the floor plan, it is not possible to make a recommendation of flooring direction. But a floating floor with some different lengths does allow one to make direction changes if desired (and not have to use T-moldings either ). If, for some reason, it doesn't work out with Floorguy (Perry) consulting you, I also provide consultations via e-mail and use Paypal as a means of payment. But do try Floorguy first.
