I am interested in taking the "plunge" on either a Festool TS 55 or a Dewalt Track saw. I would like to use for inlay borders or for running a field wild and trimming the edge before installing the apron.

I would like to know if those who do similar operations purchase the (expensive) track in a length equal to the full cut, or if you move and realign the track to create a longer cut?

Thank you.

people still put boarders in? I couldnt tell you the last time I saw one going down. Every one around here wants rustic and natural looking floors nowadays.

I picked up a used Festool ATF55, but don't have any track yet. The track comes in various lengths. You can either use different combinations of length, and join them together, or you can move track. Obviously easier if you don't have to move track for longer cuts. Yea, that track is expensive.

I used the festool once. It works well but is rather expensive. I prefer to simply use a straight board with double stick tape between it and the floor and then use it as a fence to cut against.

I have a joiner available to me so I can even run 2x4's through it to get the completely straight and then have an 8 foot straight guide.

I use the festool ts55. It is perfect for why you want to use it for!

I use the rail that came with it, and just keep moving it long. It is very easy to re align to continue the straight cut.

From the comparisons the dew alt is a more of a diy guys saw. Cheaply made.

Festool beats them all, use the track and just pick it up and move it is very easy to align. Cant miss
