I am sure many of you have seen floor of many types and styles.

I am looking for a wood flooring that is engineered, to be put over a cement floor, and I love the hand scraped destressed type. We are in the process of remodeling our home in a rustic look, to go with the hunting animals my husband and son have.

Any suggestions? I really like the virginia hand scraped. Thanks for any help
Charlotte

If Ken doesn't have what your looking for, on this website. Try www.iFloor.com and type in Hand scraped, in the search pane.

You can browse several manufacturers there, to get an idea.

I believe Mullican makes a hand scraped prefinished 3/4 in solid. :)

Ernesto, NEVER install a solid ¾ over concrete!!!!!!!

That is a formula for disaster!

Even the thin solids "they say" can be glued down to concrete, is very risky! It will bite you quickly.

floorguy,

Never say never, there are times and ways when you can install solids over concrete. I my own house I have 3/4" over concrete and below grade. But you have to know when to and when not to.

I dont believe I stated that charcoll should glue it to the concrete. Although you can in certain circumstances as pig-pen states. I would advise building up the floor if asked. baby steps here, baby steps.

a nice rustic look may be hickory-- very distressed and easy to find engineered for that glue down application,

and ernesto--I'm against the glue down of solids, especially 3/4, try to be a little more specific if you want those baby steps my friend 8)

Sean:

It's more of a distressed look and doesn't have any considerable scraping features to it. I have to agree that the long lengths(30" to 86") blow away other engineered handscraped/distressed products that are only 12"-42"

Champagne Oak---$ 8.29 square foot

There's a company in CA. called Old Master Products , www.oldmasterproducts.com/TheGarrisonCollection/ , that has some very nice hand scraped engineered floors. Wide planks, lots of species choices, varying colors, lifetime warranties, good prices. Check it Out! 8)

I wouldn't use a 3/4" solid over concrete for one simple reason...most times you will void whatever type of warranty the manufacture issues...as NWFA says "whatever the manufacturer says, that's what you do." As far as a product, try Johnson Flooring. They have a nice selection of engineered handscrapped floors.
