I hired a guy to prep the slab. Long story short after two attempts, the job is not done, I am out of my money, and I dont want to call him back out, he'll probably make it worse (I noticed he didn't wait for the primer to dry, and the second time didnt even use primer).

I think the guy should have used a lot more leveler. It doesnt seem hard to use? Is it ok to add leveler over leveler? The instructions on the durabond does not say if it is ok to pour on top of the leveler itself. Do you have to rough it up first? Do you have to prime it again? How much does this stuff cost anyway, is Ardex over Durabond ok? Since I might have to do this myself, is there one brand that has a longer working time?

BTW I got this guy as a referall from my hw installer. I dont see how he could lay a floor over my slab like it is now.

Thanks for your replies

I wonder why we don't have any answers on this?

Personally I can't think of too many times a primer being used when I did most of my work. It was more like mix it and spread it. Maybe I was taught the wrong methods? I suppose it also depends on the specs of the product being used too.

Stick with the same leveler. Check with the manufacture about adding aggregate if the pour is too deep or it will crack.
I use an additive with mine for better sticking power.

Then check with adhesive manufacture for the wood if gluedown. Incompatability issues abound.

Sorry for the delay. Well, the Omni patch I use makes an acrylic additive. I use it in sticky situations. lol  Full strength or mix with water.

I just found out that the grinder costs $93/day... sigh.

Ok, I am willing to offer free room and board (meals included) in exchange for slab prep. San Diego is a great place to visit...

I will let you two duke it out.
