I recently had an Owens Euplcluyus wood floor installed in the downstairs of my condo, and liked it so much I decided to have the floor guy keep going and change my staircase from carpeted to hardwood. In order to keep the price down, I own the job of removing the carpet, padding, staples, tack strips, etc. before he starts his work. I have removed the carpet and pad from the stairs, and have found some foam insulation that sits between the wall and the stairs on each side. This stuff is about a quarter of an inch wide, and looks kind of like white cheetos, it’s very soft; it looks like it was sprayed on after the stairs were installed. My question is, if you were installing the stairs, would you expect the foam to be removed, or would you ignore it, because the glue from the installation would cover it. (I cannot ask my contactor because he’s in the middle of moving and won’t be available until just before the job starts.) Thank you for any help you can offer.

I didn't see the section on staircases on this website before I posted my question. Just read the section and have all of the information I need. Thanks and sorry I didn't read the info before I posted.
