Have 500 s.f. of linoleum over luan to tear out. Many 1.5 inch carpet staples and glue. I could hire a large gorilla and give him a prybar, but......then I would still will have to deal with the staples that pull thru the luan, if the gorilla didn't drop dead in the hallway first.
I can't help thinking that there must be some power tool to speed up and overpower (power tool you know !) this tear out. A power floor stripper would work great, but they seem not to have a serrated blade option - and I am told that the straight blade won't cut the staples.
Note: I understand that I need to score the 2 layers of material with a circular saw - and that that will help the process.
Any ideas, guys ? Thanks, Dave

Don't leave broken off staples in the sub-floor if you might need to get the floor flat with an edger/16 grit or an electric plane by taking off overwood on the sub-floor.
Check the existing floor for flatness. You should be with a quarter inch in 6 feet at least or you will need to address the bumps before you lay the floor.
A 2 inch chisel on a hammer drill will help with removal if your squares are cut small.
