Hi everyone,

New here, I was browsing around but couldn't find any topics regrading putting poly on a bamboo floor.
I just finished installing bamboo floors (Home Depot) and in the process of just cleaning up the mess. I am
curious to know if its safe, or even possible for poly on these type of floors. I dropped down, solid wood bamboo.
Used Roberts 1408 glue, crazy expensive but it came out awesome. Has anyone done this before, if so do you have
any pictures of how it looks, thanks.

John

Is this a prefinished product? If so, there should be no need for further finishing. If unfinished, with proper preparation, yes you can put on a polyurethane finish.

Yeah its a pre-finished product. I was just wondering since that extra gloss I think looks better.
Well I guess its a big no.... thanks for the info.

Yeah right, hahah I doubt Home Depot will honor any warranty, or Home Legends, the company that supplies Home Depot with there product, or in this case the bamboo floors. They came out really nice though, maybe I will post a pic. There is one area im stuck on what to do. I ran the bamboo about 3-4 inches short against the windows in the highrise building I live in because they had some aluminum "whatever" under the floor sticking out. I wasn't sure if I should cover it up or what.

Now I am the issue where putting the new moulding up, and the 3/4 inch round base won't even conseal the hole. bbllehhh !!!!
I think I may bring the moulding out like 3 inches and sorta create a mini shelf of some sort.

Check manufactures recommendations. You can probably put down a sanding sealer and a coat or 2 of water based finish

Just interjecting here, you wouldn't put sanding sealer over existing poly, only on raw wood.
