Need to raise finish height of Brazilian Cherry 5/8 X 3.5 to match height of tile previously installed. Current subfloor is 5/8" diagonal pine with 1/2" CDX plywood.

Any difference in using luan or plywood other than cost? Should the plywood or luan be stapled and glued to the CDX plywood? or just stapled/nailed?

Other suggestions?

Thanks

There is some sorry luan being sold nowadays so I prefer BC plywood. You should install it the same direction as the subflooring, but everything offset. I use some yellow wood glue but it is not mandatory.
