I've been thinking about taking the plunge :D into getting one of the track/plunge saws.. I'm sure that festool is probably the best, but i'm wondering if anyone has used the Dewalt or Makita ones and what your thoughts might be? I've seen the Makita's for about half the price... So is the festool that much better, or will one of these others work well? I don't plan on this being a tool that gets used all the time, we would mostly use it to cut off excess on herringbone floors to put in a border and for other similar things..

i trust anything by Makita..

festool is nice..German..great tool,s no doubt..but..why for something so simple?

i still use a strait edge/strait board..line it up, stand on it and cut wiht a makita circular.

but the time you lay you line/set your track. lock it down and make your cut I will be done with corners already;)

I agree. I have always been happy with Makita too. Think I'm gonna go with that one.
