Hi All -

Recently hired a pro to screen and re-poly my red oak flooring. He did so and milky areas appeared in the poly - mostly at the edges of boards and where there were indentations in the face (grain, knot, etc.). Pro said floor must have been cleaned with Murphy's before we bought the house and the only solution was to sand and refinish. We agreed and he completed that work this week.

Unfortunately, despite the complete sand down to bare wood, many of these spots have returned. The pro now says the only solution is to completely remove all the hardwood and start over... this can't be right, right?

Here are some pictures (tried to embed them but no go) - I would greatly appreciate some advice before I spend thousands more and wind up divorced.

Share with the Pro, . . .you can accept these small spots ( which proves their is a contaminant).
To save $ $ $ . . .suggest sealing in the contamination,( which looks like, has effected the sheen). Use Zinzer universal sealer (dewaxed shellac),

-then apply another top coat of Your preferred sheen.
