Well the floors were looking good until i realized that some areas looked different in the hardwood and the stain was much darker than other areas. I finally realized the reason the stain looked different and was much darker is because those certain areas were not sanded as smooth as the rest of the floor and were a little rough to the touch, so i guessed those certain areas sucked up more stain than the rest of the floor. SO................what i did was, I waited for the stain to dry, then I resanded all the areas that had not been sanded properly with 60, 80 and 120 grit sand paper but when I went to restain those areas, they were slightly darker than the rest of the floor and you can tell what was redone. I NEED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.....
Is there anyway to get the colours to match again, without killing myself?
I used a walnut color stain oil based......MINWAX, floors are OAK and about 30 years old and I have not put the sealer on yet because I need to fix this problem before I do so...I cant find answers anywhere for this type of question and I've been looking everywhere.
Thanks,
