We are planning to install solid hardwood flooring in our family room to replace the carpet. The home is less than 5 years old and the room is above grade, it's the first floor of a 2 story house with a full basement. The room is 336 sq. ft and basically a perfect rectangle, with the exception of one angled corner where there's a small fireplace.

I think I've decided on the BR-111 Indusparquet line: http://www.1aflooring.com/productslist.aspx?cid=126

My questions are:

1. What's the difference between the thickness of the woods? In other words, are there advantages to having a 3/4" thick wood over having 5/16" or 7/16"? From what I can see the thinner woods are cheaper per sq. ft, so what's the downside or is there a downside of going thinner? (We're wanting 3" or 4" wide planks if that factors in at all)

2. Does anybody have reviews of that flooring? I've read pretty good things about BR-111. Anyone here have any of those woods in that line? Is it a good quality floor and does that sound like it would fit my situation?

Thanks and any answers would be appreciated. Just found this board, seems like there's a lot of information here.

Thicker flooring can be refinished more times in the future. So it will last much longer. We have installed lots of BR-111 and it is very nice stuff. However, I would not go with the thin stuff no matter what. I would rather use a cheaper brand of solid 3/4" over a better brands thin stuff.
