I am planning to install solid 3/4" throughout our lower floor. It needs to flow through several rooms and the foyer and hallway continually.
Standing at the front door on my left is a formal living room which will flow into the foyer down the hall and into the family room. To my left is the dining room which is also open to the foyer and hallway.
In other words it is all somewhat open without standard doorways.
The flooring will run parallel with the front wall to the back wall.
Where should one start?

Thanks

Usually the longest straight shot wall, then use a spline and back lay the other direction.

Can you post a sketch? There may be some other things to consider when deciding where to start, e.g. squareness of entire area as well as intermediate walls. Some of these things may result in narrow boards, etc. Also, areas larger than 20 feet are often started in the middle and worked to the outside walls for expansion purposes.

ยป Can I post images? Yes, images can be shown in your posts. If the administrator has allowed attachments, you may be able to upload the image to the board. Otherwise, you must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.example.com/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible server) nor images stored behind authentication mechanisms, e.g. hotmail or yahoo mailboxes, password protected sites, etc. To display the image use the BBCode [img] tag. - See more at: faq.php#f3r3
