I'm trying to determine if I should try to do a DIY install on a glue down engineered hardwood floor. The only area I see being a problem is around the one side of the fireplace. In the first picture you can see the living room. It's a rectangle with the fireplace coming out of the corner at an angle. I went to run the boards from L to R in the pic (along the longest wall.)

The question is how do I install the pieces marked with a red box in the second pic? I assume the boards are T&G, but I wouldn't be able to get the board far enough forward to be able to slide the T into the G. Do I remove the tongue on the board next to it and just butt the two pieces together?

As you can see my hall goes straight and then dog legs to the left. I don't foresee any problems. Any advice or something I might be overlooking?

Thanks!

You removed the bottom of the groove and set the piece on top of the last tongue. Be sure to undercut the trim so your flooring will slip under the edges

If undercut deep enough,( not that deep, just the width of the tongue)....you can slide under, and pull back into the t&g.

Definitely don't spread any glue in that small area until you have the right fit.

Dry laying. Some tips to avoid getting glue everywhere with tricky positions and cuts with a gluedown...

Excellent point Ken  ...I do a lot of "dry fitting" , depending on the cuts.

On my statement "undercut the width of the tongue", actually undercut a little deeper. A multi-function tool would work well on that area.

Then drop that puppy in prior to the second to the last plank, farther back than it need to go and then drop in your second to last strips, use Howards Board Bully to pull back into place.
