Hey,
Great site here that has answered a lot of my questions already. Here are the pertinent facts for the experts...
I am building a new house, with about 1650ft of hardwoods. I have an allowance of $8/sqft installed (material +installation=8 bucks). I may be willing to go up a bit for the perfect floor.
We are on a raised foundation in eastern NC, we have pets, and we are looking for a very casual floor, preferably wider planks, preferably a rustic look in a medium brown finish.
I feel like we will go with an engineered floor and we have liked some of what Anderson has to offer. Any thoughts on that brand, or any information on our criteria listed above would be greatly appreciated. There are so many choices out there!!!
PS
I was really interested in a particular floor that while out of my range, had an oiled finish. These were manufactured by US floors, and called Navarre floors. Engineered oak, wider plank, and finished with natural oil (linseed?). Of course they would scratch more but the claim was that it was easier to fix individual areas of damage by lightly sanding and reapplying oil. Has a great look but not much info out there. Any thoughts on that type of finish? Couldn't find anything on the hardwoodinstaller website about this finish.
Thanks for your thoughts,
B
