I'm going to refinish floor in 100 years old house. Flooring is old but looks good. Floor boards are separated on some areas. There are few areas where the old poly has worn off the high traffic areas. These spots have lighter or no stains. We do not want to refinish all the way down to bare wood. I'm thinking screening 180, vacuum, clean to get rid of old dirt and then poly.
1.how can I re-stain these areas to be matched with existing? Would it be very visible is I do not stain and just use poly over bare wood in these spots?
2.Do I need to use some wood sealer on these spots before I stain or put top coat?
3.In areas where boards are separated should I use more poly?
4.Customer wants to use mate finish? Now there is oil based poly and we are thinking to go with water based. we are thinking to use either
http://glitsa.com/professionals/product ... ne-finish/ or
http://glitsa.com/professionals/product ... 00-series/
I appreciate any advice, thanks!
