We just uncovered 92 year old oak floors under the carpet in our dining room. They were in great shape except the padding left gummy patches everywhere. We have tried numerous things, including mineral spirits, trying to remove it. The floors would probably not have needed refininshing otherwise. Any suggestions?

We had someone come today to start working on our floors after no solution to the "gummy" problem. They look unbelievable already. We are going with a natrual satin finish on the read oak floors. We wish had done this years ago! Our home is a Neel Reid and the detial in the floors is fabulous. Have some pics but not sure how to load them to this site.[/img]

I just removed the linoleum from my kitchen to uncover the wood floors. The patches of carpet padding won't come up either---even after my husband sanded the rest of the floors. What company/place did you do to to have work done on your floors? Was it a timely process?
