I have had my oak floor acclimating for about a month, just cause I was also not ready for the install yet. My pinned moisture meter (which is working well, as I have used it on other wood as a test) shows 0% on the hardwood, and 0% on the 3/4"plywood subfloor.

Can I proceed with the install? Do I have to raise the MC content of the wood with a humidifier?

You are not getting a good reading, 0% on both is dang near impossible. I'm not a wood floor pro by any means but I can tell you 0% mc in your plywood and the flooring doesn't happen in real world enviroments. Quite a few of the cheaper moisture meters will not read below 9 or 10% which may be your problem.

yes, the meter only goes down to 6%, so I would say the MC is between 0% & 6%, for both my floor and my subfloor... Based on that low percent, can I install????

Typically you want the hardwood within 2% of the subfloor. So it's your call.

What meter is it, a tramex? Thats kinda bone ass dry, I'd run some humidity in there so your meter starts to pick it up and you don't have problems down the road when it gets sticky hot.

So your thinking I'll get a lot of expansion in the summer with the humidity levels?

The meter is a pin type made by Extech:

Display Dual measurement scale LCD with Bargraph metering
Wood Moisture Range 6 to 44%
Basic Accuracy ±0.05%
Measurement principle Electrical resistance
Electrode length 0.3" (8mm)
Electrode pins Integrated, replaceable
Auto Power Off After approx. 15 minutes
Operating Temperature 32 to 104°F (0 to 40°C)
Operating Humidity 85% Relative Humidity maximum

We are getting pretty late in the heating season and that means if you have been running the heat for months and its bone ass dry in the house. I didnt catch what part of the country you arein but here a wood floor comfort level is like 8-10% MC. Unless you live in Arizona or something you probally need a little humidification. If you install the floor tightly now you could be in for some pretty pronounced movement / buckling come late summer.

I wouldnt install it if it is below six without some expansion built in. Call a local flooring store and ask them what is the average m/c is for the area. My Nwfa map say 7-13% depending how close to the coast you are. That would tell me that I would be shhoting for close to 9% if that holds true.
