Question...

Does anyone have any experience with "Nova Industries Company Ltd." which sells Jatoba and exotic hardwoods?

The boxes say "Made In China" which scares the living hell out of me knowing that most stuff that comes out of China is pure garbage.

The hardwood looks amazing with a great colour, grain, and overall finish (as far as my untrained eyes go.)

The hardwood we're looking at is a Jatoba and they seem to have lots of good sized lengths in the boxes.

The hardwood is also sold by "Rona," a "Home Depot" knockoff in Canada which is quite a large company in Canada.

So back to my original quesiton, should I steer clear away from this hardwood because it's from China? The hardwood sells for $4.68/sq for the Jatoba. Other well known brands of Jatoba sell for around $6.50/sq so you can see there is quite a big difference in price when we're talking about doing over 1000/sq of hardwood.

Thanks in advance..

Ryan

Reminds me of the special order "jatoba" Home Depot sells for $4.99/sf solid prefinished 3/4" product. Suspiciously, none of the 3 stores near me had any sample pieces. They did have samples of "manchurian walnut" and one of another, which upon closer inspection, looked to be cheap oak or some other type of wood that was stained on the surface. The wood also appeared to be glued together and I don't mean layers glued as in engineered but like short milled pieces joined end to end.

Have any of you pros seen this product? I think it's Thomasville branded.

Dents easy. Getting a lot of claims on it for denting. Even though it is wood, and wood dents with compresion PSI, This flooring seams to be prone to show more apparently

Thank you very much for all your comments.

Floorguy: Are you talking about the Nova company from China, or Nova USA?

Thank you,

Ryan

We are currently installing Nova USA tigerwood 3/4" solid that is from Brazil and the wood is comparable to BR111.
