I can only imagine how many DIY'ers are getting hung out to dry by following this video with a different product. Folks...read the directions. Each and every manufacturer is different in some form or another.

In other words, Shaw recommends stapling into the groove. Not sure if this is their only product line that calls for it? Decent video otherwise. Quick and to the point for a square room.

Yea beat that thin engineered edge with the mallet. lol I think he ran it the same direction as the old wood floor underneath. These guys who make those videos on youtube, most are complete idiots.

Yes I just floated one Shaw product that if fastened down it is into the groove, crazy huh? The groove is designed totally different than a typical groove. Plus if floating or gluing it down they say NOT to use straps.

Oh, also that one did have a hdf core, hickory top and bottom. I did the first engineered hardwood with hdf about ten years ago I think, it was a 3/4 Shaw prefinished. So I guess maybe they were the first to do it, never heard of any problems with it.

No straps?

Too fragile to handle them?

I guess. But I used them anyway but not super tight, just to alleviate any hydraulicking.
