Does anyone know how Urban Floors, in Commerce, California is rated?
I just had their engineered natural maple flooring installed, and the boards are far from uniform in color. The box says, "Platinum Shield--UV &* coat finish," if that means anything. Is Urban known for having non-uniform boards?
What's a better company next time I want to spend a fortune?
Thanks

Maple and uniform color, depends what your buying.

I have seen maple be a light blonde almost uniform color, and then I have seen it look like varitated Hickory, with light & dark brown variations

Yup, the uniformity of maple is relative to the grade of raw material used, not the type of finish on it. Keep in mind that lower grade does not mean lower quality in this case.
If you were expecting the floor to be relative uniform in colour, the saleguy should have been showing you a "Select and Better" grade or "Clear" grade. If there are many colour variations in the boards, dark mineral streaks, etc you probably have a "Rustic" or "Character" grade floor.
