I have seen some people, here on this board and elsewhere, state their opinions on how to install with this concrete subfloor. We live in a 3 yr old house with slab as the first floor. We are going to install an engineered 1/2" about 800sf. The question is what is the BEST method of installation here? There is no moisture problem anywhere, live in Salinas, CA, pretty dry climate! Is gluing an option? I want the best method, and cost is not an issue here, so hit my up with all your experiences with the best method. Thanks, and by the way, yes, I am a new member of the board.

Then glue the floor down directly to the concrete after you have performed moisture testing. If the test reveals the slab is a little high MC wise, then use a "system" to combat the higher MC. Franklin Titebond has one, as does Bosticks, Taylor, Sika, and others. You need to follow the manufacturer's instructions to a 'T". Especially the leveling/flatening aspect. That slab needs to be checked for flatness; typically, 1/8" in a 10' radius.

1/16 of an inch in 10 feet if your using Sika adhesive or Bostik's BEST!!

If you use something that actually holds the trowel ridges without slumping, like Bostik's BST, Parabond 4002, and Taylor 2071 the spec is 3/16 of an inch in 10 feet. using a 3/16 notched trowel. I use a 1/4 x3/16 x1/4 U notch, for excellent results.

Well, that's why I said typically. I was going by a generally acceptable measure. Different products may require different degrees of flatness. And BTW, is that a word? Flatness? Doesn't sound right.

Hahahahahaha! I have a debate with myself, everytime I type flatness. It is a word, because my spell checker catches it if I try to spell it flattness.
