 Post subject: newbie to lay prefinished floor in 6x8 room tomorrow- I need

to know how to work with the existing floor vents. Do I lay the floor and then go back and cut the opening with a skillsaw? Or do I lay the flooring around the opening? Any other quick tips on things I shouldn't forget?

Either way but I prefer to cut the flooring around those HVAC openings while I'm installing. Seen plenty of guys "forget" the exact location and end up cutting in the wrong place with the skill saw. Now that's funny, IMO. :lol:

Yessir, done that once. I also covered a floor outlet, but managed to find it with little time invloved...got lucky. Tough to do with plywood on concrete..no basement to look under.
