Hi group,

I'm in a condo in Long Beach Ca. have a boring wall and want to add a laminate wood floor to the wall. "On the other side of the studs is a shower/bathtub with vapor barrier, cement board, redguard and tile."

Wanted to ask about the expansion gap, I have seen 1/2" or so of a gap is needed for humidity, is that on each side of the wood and does that include using both nails and glue? I was NOT going to add a vapor barrier in this installation but if anyone has experience and notes I should do this please let me know.

The normal humidity in my town is about 80% that's LA for you...

Thanks in advance, Dave

How are you planning to attach the engineered wood to the wall?

Hi from what I've read, one would use liquid nails and 18 gauge nails at 45 degree angle on another site it said to use ferring strips and nail and glue to them. However, in LA ferring strips at HD or L's are 3/4" x1-2" if I do that, the floor would be 3/4" out from the wall itself which seems a tad odd.

Thanks for offering help.
