Hello. I am new to this forum and have a question for work that I am currently having done.

I am building a small addition to my woodworking shop for hand tool / bench work. The floor will be rift sawn white oak. I would like to have a non-film finish and have considered hard wax oils. Some of the names that have come up are: Rubio monocoat, watco tung oil, Saicos, and osmo. I don't have any experience with these finishes and would truly appreciate any advice.

Thank you
Sal

Hope your done by now. LOL

I've done Rubio and I would say it does not adsorb enough to protect the floor and I'm not sure those others would jkust attract to much dirt for a work shop floor.
I use Watco Danish oil on my doors but I don't walk on them.

Thanks for the reply,

Yes we finally got the floors installed. they came out very well and we used Osmo Polyx. The effect is what I was going after. Sweeping up shavings is fine.

As far as longevity is concerned, it is a workshop floor and it will get worn/damaged over time. I just need to accept that. However, avoiding a film coating seems to be the right choice (for now!)

Best,
Sal
