ok guys, I have uploaded more realistic pictures. click on the link to see my installation.

http://s1161.photobucket.com/albums/q506/tmjedi/

This installed hardwood was acclimated for almost a year. I know, I didnt install it right away when i bought it. So, the hardwood planks has seen the most humid weather and most cold weather. However, I have little gaps all over the place after installation. I am thinking about removing it and redo it or should I do a full trowel fill?

Second question, since the planks has been in the house through out the winter and summer, it should have adjusted properly, right? So if i decide to trowel fill it, putty shouldn't be popping out later?

Thirdly, I bought a digital moisture meter from home depot. I measured the moisture content of my subfloor in 7 different areas and it read between 3% and 5%. Then I checked the moisture content of the hardwood floor and its moisture content was 7%. Is this good for installation? Oh, by the way, I live in DC. I need help before I finish the other part of the house. Thanks

would be nice to see some close ups of the gaps. maybe with something for reference. If they are as wide as you say you should be able to stick a nickle in them.

I think Floorguy said it right. WAIT!
Most floors are shrunken up. If you saw my maple you would draw the same conclusion, but actually when the humidity comes back
they will expand and be tight again.
Most of the floors I have done recently have gaps in them. Its normal during the winter months.

Disclaimer- I'm not a flooring expert...

Having said that, beyond the fact that you have gaps, you also have many boards whose joints have what appears to be less than 1" spacing (should be 6" or more) from row to row....

Please don't take this the wrong way but the install is amateurish and if it were my floor I'd be taking it up and starting over because as time goes on you'll not be happy with it.

Please research this site and particularly search on the terms "racking" and possibly the term "H". You need first to learn how to lay out the joints so that they appear as random as possible.

JMO.....
