Hello All,

I will be starting a new project in about 3 weeks which entails installing roughly 800 sqft of engineered hardwood. This is my first stab at this kind of project, so I'll need all the help I can get :-)

First hurdle I need to jump is deciding which tools to purchase? The product that will be installed is "Mayflower 3/8" x 5" Sundance Handscraped Hardwood Flooring" on top of wood sub-floor. Looking through the installation documentation, I see they recommend one of the following Floor staplers:

Bostich LHF97125-2-20
SPOTNAILS WS4840W2
SENCO SLS20HF
PORTA-NAIL 475

I'm looking for some pros/cons of each of the stapler's above and if you had to choose which one would it be?

If I left out any pertinent information, please let me know and I can provide additional details.

Thanks in advance,

Phillip

Always been partial to Bostitch, but my personal preference is going with 18 gauge, ( I use the EHF-1838K ). Not familiar with Spot Nails, but Porta or Senco you can't go wrong...

What does the manufacturer recommend,( as far as gauge). Seems to me on a 5" plank...you would want to go with 18ga.

The MFR recommends 18-20 guage at 1 - 1.5" depth. I was looking at the 18 gauge from Bostitch the other day as well....I think I'll give that a shot.

Thanks for the reply!
